Personally I have to admit, I write a blog on an average of twice a month for many reasons. One, is my style and subject matter does not allow me to produce a daily or weekly blog. The other is that I am an author who just placed a book on the market this past Christmas and continues to write books for release this summer and fall. The two are very different. In an ideal world, the two activities would have a positive correlatation but in reality often don't.
For example, consider two sites (A & B) with equivalent traffic and content. Site "A" hand-sells ads directly to an advertisers and generates much more revenue than site "B" that relies solely on Google adsense or some other ad network. Today knowledge of social media and SEO are important. Networking on Blogs like BBC and creating a eNewsletter are important too. Off line acitivities from doing events and other things are extremely to developing a readership. In todays enviornment, buying advertising is becoming increasingly important as well. Now if you have the time, ability, money and inclin... less

I recently converted my blog into an online magazine and as a result I started offering advertising to my readers who in my case are also authors looking for exposure. I also offer services that helps get more exposure for their titles as well. I have google adsense and I am often approached by companies asking can they sponsor an article or purchase paid ad space.
Another thing that has helped me also is creating a media kit and approaching advertisers or companies that would be a good fit for my brand. less
