  • About Me I'm on a mission. This will be the paradigm of the new millenium. "Circulating In The Black" is a movement to promote our Cultural Capital. I automatically express that which I am conscious of being. Without effort or the use of words, at every moment of tme, I m commanding myself to be and posses All that which I am conscious of being and possessing.

I have a collection of half complete and over full testimonies of times and frames of mind you would not believe.  I'm not finished though... through this and my collection of blogs on other sites I must admit now to being in the second half of the game.  This is the third quarter and the game ain't over.

Where would we be without them? They have been around for years.  I'm 55 years old and they have been around for many years longer than I've been around.  I really like them.  They are fun to have, look at, touch and more.  In fact, I like to... sometimes... play them.   An interesting thing that most people don't consider is that there are only 7 distinct notes in music, represented by 13 keys on a piano.  They repeat over and over in 'octaves', but the idea surrounds the fact that all music is predicated on seven little notes.  That's less than fingers we have. A, B, C, D, E, F and G.  Wow!   A secret that many don't know is... if you know just a little bit more than the next fellow about the subject, that little bit is sometimes enough to make a million dollars.  less

It is the central institutional sector of the black community, with no challenger as the cultural womb. Not only did it give birth to new institutions, such as schools, banks, insurance companies and low income housing, it also provided an academy and an arena for political activities. It also nurtured young talent for musical, dramatic, and artistic development. Today, close to one-third of the black population has achieved middle-class status and more than 80 percent of the black population live in urban areas. African-Americans now constitute one of the most highly urbanized populations. The religious dimension of black urban churches is found in the black sacred cosmos, a unique Afro-Christian worldview that was forged among black people from both the African and Euro-American traditions during the e...    less

What about African, Caribbean, Latin and Afro-European literature? Our experiences will be always be limited if we take on the attitude of, nothing exists beyond our shores. Africans all over the world have so much to learn from and teach to, one another. First we'll have to acknowledge that we all fall under the category of Africans and we have to accept our family on the continent and the rest of the world and they'll have to accept us. There is an amazing amount of art being created all the time by US but if WE don't recognize it then we're losing our legacy. We all have to make more effort to develop ways to exchange and promote African arts among our fellow Africans and the rest of the world if we want to see our artists gain the recognition that they deserve.  less
