They need to realize we had to become stronger over the years because during slavery, they were taking our men, the head, the covering away from their families so we had to take on roles that weren't designed for us to handle. So now they say we have a bad attitude, we're obnoxious and loud. We just had to become stronger for our children and our families in order to survive.

Why aren't the age groups separated? Were there enough staff present. I don't even see how he was able to even get a hold of the baby without someone noticing. You know tempers were flying in the comments. Mainly "I would have whipped his a@@" some people said this has to be learned behaviour, or something that he is seeing. At that point, I was counting my blessings that I was a stay at home mom. I'm back to work now and baby goes to her aunt's house. I know she is definitely going to take good care of her, but I do miss being home with my baby.  less

What about African, Caribbean, Latin and Afro-European literature? Our experiences will be always be limited if we take on the attitude of, nothing exists beyond our shores. Africans all over the world have so much to learn from and teach to, one another. First we'll have to acknowledge that we all fall under the category of Africans and we have to accept our family on the continent and the rest of the world and they'll have to accept us. There is an amazing amount of art being created all the time by US but if WE don't recognize it then we're losing our legacy. We all have to make more effort to develop ways to exchange and promote African arts among our fellow Africans and the rest of the world if we want to see our artists gain the recognition that they deserve.  less
