What about African, Caribbean, Latin and Afro-European literature? Our experiences will be always be limited if we take on the attitude of, nothing exists beyond our shores. Africans all over the world have so much to learn from and teach to, one another. First we'll have to acknowledge that we all fall under the category of Africans and we have to accept our family on the continent and the rest of the world and they'll have to accept us. There is an amazing amount of art being created all the time by US but if WE don't recognize it then we're losing our legacy. We all have to make more effort to develop ways to exchange and promote African arts among our fellow Africans and the rest of the world if we want to see our artists gain the recognition that they deserve.  less

in the topic Obama VS Romney: What's Your Take in the forum Obama VS Romney

I watched the debate with my mom last night.  And this is my take on it:  I think that Romney despite his interupptions and his desire to have the last word to make sure that people knew what he meant, did a good job at bringhing himself and what he hoped to bring for the election.  Obama defended his record.  I have heard that people think that Obama won th debate.  I am not sure who won the debate.  I think that it was a toss up becasue Obama didn't look happy during the debate where as Romney looked relaxed.  I think Romney told why he was for and against Obama.  He showed up. I think Obama was slighly on the defensive, I think that Obama was slightly unhappy with the turn out because despite explaining- when you rely on your record it is still hard to defend.  Because the record speaks for itself.  You have your proof right there.  Nothing else needs to be said.  Whereas Romney can use that record in his favor if he chooses and so can Obama.

I think that the PBS issue is an interestiong one to talk about as well as the social secuirty, healthcare, economy, education, private sector and also the issue of continuity which is always running through.  We are awre that social security for our generation is not oing to be te same.  We will more than likely pay for it.  The same could be said for health care but for someone who has a pre=exisitng ocnditin when she changes jobs his takeon how to handle that I am intersted in. Or I can attempt to keep my old insurance. Which I was thinkig ofting my own a ddiferent way .  You can get writers healt insurance.  Kind of like Cobra.  Also PBS I understand is mostly paid throughdonations and gifts from foundations. I think the issue there is tax dollars, more revenue for the country to use to spend elsewhere.  So we shll ass on those.

Education- interesting.  My question to you all here- do you think he will go the way of Europe and steer people towards careers that are suited to them from birth- likegymnast, teacher? Do you think a voucher system for school like the charer system which has worked and failed will become the norm?  Do you thinkpublich school education will become a thing of the past?

The rest of the issues I still have to read up on but those were some interesting ones.  Iamwaiting for the vice presidential election.  I think Ryan will hurt Romney as much as help him and it has to do with the womans vote.  Oneof the more powerful overlooked voters in the country- I think they should watch that.  Yes abortion is a push button issue, yes euthanisa is a push button isue- but if the women truly all band together and say look- what planet are you from- where do you get your ideas ffom- do u know what it akes to incubate a baby- do u know what it takes to balnace a husband, a hcild, a job, household chores, extracuriticaly activies for all three and also to maintain that smil for you when you walk through that door- and then tellme should i vote for you.

    We hsall see.

in the topic Plagiarism In The Blogosphere - Dealing With Copy Cat Bloggers in the forum How Do You Deal With Copy Cat Bloggers?

Hi. I have a personal story to tell about plagiarism.  I actually got an email from a writer who had spoken with his attorney.  And the attorney had basically advised him to send me an email advising me that I had plagiarized and to revise before I got sued. So I did that.  But I think that people make the mistake of thinking its okay to copy, revise and edit someone elses work. I have heard that people want to completely revise another persons blog.  And to me that is not needed. Its the persons own personal take. That to me with out their permission would be plagiarism.  And it would also be something they shouldn't do.  They should write their own work.

To avoid they have certain cluases you can use but we all have problems.  I was once told that a person can steal all of your work and you have no recourse but to let it go. I have also been told that people have actually gotten others taken off the website and she sued them or will sue them if they contiue. She got two books taken off of the website.  Another author I have heard took the offending author to court and sued them for copyright infringement and won.  So if they can do it and police their website then they can also help others do the same thing.

My idea is like the other poster, I am sorry I don't have your name is to first ask permission before you post anything. And then to also, post a pingback or something to their website. And if need be put in your blog post that you have permission to post.  I dont do that all the time but I do post links to articles. I say normally  this is something that you may be interested in.  Hopefully that isn't that bad a thing to do. What do you guys think?
