Recently, I had the pleasure of having something I had not had in a long time…girl talk.
That’s right; good conversation with friends. I didn’t even realize how much I needed it. And I obviously “needed” it because I felt so good afterwards. I actually felt empowered. And honestly, I had been feeling a bit out of it. First I talked with Veronica (She’s “Ronnie” to me!). She made me feel so good about some things that I’m venturing to do. I mean she really made me think I could do it. I appreciated that sooo much! What a cheerleader (I don’t think she thinks of herself that way)!

Later, I talked with Marcia. We talked about all kinds of things—hopes, fears, ambitions. We brought one another up to date on what’s been happening in our lives—her weekend…a birthday party for her baby girl in the middle of settling into her new house (think “frenzy”). The start of my weekend…bringing Ashley to the emergency room (She’s okay, by the way).
We found out some more things that we had in common—we are both perfectionists, labor over minute details, and procrastinate when things aren’t just the way we think they should be. Most of all, we encouraged each other to “go” for our dreams and move past the things that intimidate us.

And then there’s Donyale. She just makes me laugh or smile by saying something quirky and outrageous (especially on Facebook) at the least expected time. She took a vacation from Facebook and when she came back, decided that she had no comments for anybody’s posts and that we were all boring her and she may as well deactivate again. (Everybody needs a “Donnie” in their life).

Well, who knew that a little girl talk could work such wonders?
If you find yourself a little “down in the dumps”, talk to a friend or two and get jumpstarted. You never know what a little girl talk will do for you. When was the last time you had a really good conversation anyway? What did you talk about? Was it just what you needed?
Blessings!
A friend loves at all times,
and a brother is born for adversity.
