Communion

  • Read 1 Cor 11:17-33.  The foundation of worship is to give honor to God.  It is to recognize that it is not about us, but about giving praise and respect to our Lord and Savior.  Worship should be harmonious, useful and edifying amongst all believers.  The apostle Paul gave these instructions regarding our Lord's Supper, because those in the early Corinth church were using that time of fellowship to eat and drink excessively.  They didn't view communion, nor partake of it, for its true meaning- to honor Christ and His sacrifice for mankind.  When we take part in this special service, we should do so with desiring fellowship with our Lord and each other.  We need to come up to the communion table remembering we are sinners saved by grace.  We are to confess our sins and resolve our differences.  When we take this mindset, we allow freedom in our relationship with Christ and each other.
