We are about one thing at Wee Bee Books, reading! We believe that every minute you and your family spend reading is a minute well spent. Our company started out based on the desire to make books available to every child that wanted one. The problem was there were many children who didn't know enough about books to know they wanted one. And too many times the books available to them did not reflect the people they knew or the lives they were living. So WEE BEE BOOKS was reborn and dedicated to searching out books especially suited for African American families.
We select books that encouraged reading in the home and at all levels of capability. We also offer tips and suggestions that parents can use to encourage children to love reading. We often ask parents to compare the amount of time and money they spend on video games to the time and money they spend on books and reading.
Children learn to talk by listening, watching and attempting to talk themselves. They know it is a good thing to do, because everyone around them is doing it. Children can learn to read in the same way. If they see everyone in their family reading, if books are readily available, if family members read to them and allow children to attempt to read; they will learn to read, just like they learned to talk.
